KS - From the moment I met Bev Tovar with State of the Art Painting, I had a good feeling her company would set itself apart from the other painters I met to provide estimates for the interior painting of our new home, and she did not disappoint! Not only was she punctual and professional, but she also took her time as we walked room by room through our new home discussing all our painting needs. She offered expert advice on color, style, the process as well as suggestions on where cost eficiencies could be met. She is a color expert extraordinaire! She can immediately assess a color swatch and explain how it would look with the lighting and furnishings in a room. They were punctual and courteous. And bonus – they finished two days ahead of schedule! When I walked into our newly painted home, nothing could possibly wipe the smile from my face! Caroline - This was one of our top experiences with home remodeling services. Bev (owner) and her daughter were very professional, knowledgeable and quick to give us a bid for the work. They provided plastic bins for all of our kitchen items that we packed up the weekend before the work. As promised, Raphael and Alejandra (a husband-wife team) arrived promptly on Monday and were finished (as promised) by the end of the week. Every day they showed up at 8:30am and worked hard until 5:00. The prep work that they did was the most thorough that we have ever seen. They virtually created a work bubble with 2 zipper doors into our kitchen/great room area, which took about 2 days to create. The work itself was meticulous and amazing in quality. They really bought out the beauty in our maple cabinets, showing the grain where it wasn't seen before. They even treated the inside of the cabinets to make them water and oil resistant. When they cleaned up, everything was cleaned (even the hanging pendants and ceiling fans) until it was it its original condition. To top it off, Raphael and Alejandra were extremely pleasant and professional. We would highly recommend this company to anyone!
Mike and Kathleen Hess - We can't say enough good things about our experience with State of the Art. Bev helped us with paint color, explained the process of painting our kitchen cabinets, and answered all our questions before the project started. She also kept in touch with us daily while the work was done (by very talented Gabby and Ruben!) and was quick to reply to any questions we texted her. Bret & Julie Collins - We built our home in 2006 and within six months our dark stained kitchen dream had become a flaking and chipped nightmare from the poor builder stain job. Scott Hamblin - I called State of the Art after hiring another local company that advertises to be the best at cabinet refinishing in Kansas City and Denver.
I had thought my cabinets were destroyed after what had been done to them by the first company and I contacted State of the Art to hopefully just make them look acceptable or paint over them completely. Beverly came over and looked at the cabinets and although she was appalled by the work that had been performed she thought her and her guys could fix them without having to paint over them.
Her guys came in and did a masterful job and exceeded every expectation I had, they turned what I thought was going to be a patch job into brand new looking cabinets that I love and was exactly what I was looking for when I started my kitchen remodel. If you have the standard golden oak cabinets they can do amazing things with them for a fraction of what refacing or replacing will cost you. Instead of paying double by using the wrong company I would just recommend saving yourself the time, money, and headaches by hiring the right company the first time instead of having to do it twice like I did.
I was incredibly lucky to find the only company in Kansas City that refinishes kitchen cabinets the professional way and doesn't just want to come in with a piece of sandpaper and a paint brush and do what you can do yourself. I am extremely grateful to Beverly for bailing me out of a home

Tina and Greg Cornell - State of the Art performed a miracle on our kitchen. The job of re-staining our cabinets was truly outstanding. The old cabinets were honey oak with enough lacquer on them that you could see yourself. Bev was great to work with, offering years of expertise on color, stain and finish. Karen - Our newly refinished kitchen and eating area cabinets are beautiful!! The attention to detail is wonderful. We love how the painted/glazed cabinets are also painted on the inside. The glazed fireplace looks awesome, very rich looking. The stained cabinets are gorgeous!! They look like new!! Who would ever guess they used to be golden oak turned ‘orange’. We have received many compliments in the 2 week period since the completion. Esteban and his coworker were very good to work with, very careful and thorough every step of the way and we love the color that Esteban created for our cabinets. Happy to be probably your... hummm 200th home in 2003. That's the year you finished all the kitchen, mudroom,
laundry room and 4 bathrooms full of cabinetry (both new and old) in the home we bought to "flip" in Old Leawood. Your range of experience and expertize is amazing because your guys also painted all the mill work, ceilings and walls not to mention the excellent job they did on a 63 year old exterior!!!
I'm guessing we were probably your 455th home in November 2008 when you enameled our honey color oak cabinets
using Benjamin Moore's Mayonnaise color making our kitchen look like one you might see on HGTV! I think one of my favorite parts of that kitchen renovation was how CLEAN AND BRIGHT the insides of our cabinets were once you finished painting them!
Then in January 2009, I'd estimate that we were home # 635 when you finished the new custom bar, cabinets, entertainment center and 2 mantels in our newly finished basement family room using one of your "specially" formulated stain colors. In addition they enameled all the mill work and painted the ceilings and walls. Everyone who visits our finished basement loves it...We have become the family destination spot on big game days.
In October 2009, do you suppose we were probably home # 694 when your outstanding crew made the exterior of our home go from "Johnson County beige" to French Country Wow? I can't begin to tell you how many people have stopped to comment on the transformation.
You are the consummate professional! No smoke and mirrors, what you promise is what you deliver! I have always felt as though you and your guys take care of our homes as though they are your own! And that is why I never hesitate to refer you to clients and friends!
